What if you could inspire pastors, teachers, and leaders to be empowered with the Word of God? What impact on the world would you have by influencing pastors, teachers, and leaders who work in third world countries? How would this affect the lives of the under resourced individuals they influence?
I empower people to connect to their deepest passion and strengthen their relationship with God by teaching them how to clarify and interpret the Word of God.
I visited Nairobi, Kenya in October 2012, Jan/Feb of 2013, January 2015, and February 2016, each time conducting a professional development workshop for the instructors of Ingrid Education Centre, founded and directed by Douglas Monene. The school is a community based organization that provides education to needy and vulnerable children in the Matopeni Quarry slum area, where parents make 27 USD a month crushing rock for a living and schooling costs 15 USD a month.
Teaching the 200 underprivileged and orphaned children of Ingrid are instructors who are paid about one-fourth of the standard salary for teachers in Nairobi. Having taught English as a Second Language (ESL) for fifteen years, I was truly impressed by the quality of the children’s English in spite of no textbooks, poor teaching materials, and the use of a primitive chalkboard and piece of chalk for classroom instruction. Motivated by their faith, these teachers have captured the vision that Douglas has instilled in them, desiring to operate from a scriptural perspective.
The main instruction manual used in all the workshops was the Word of God! Proceeding to clarify and interpret God’s Word in relationship with our thinking, each workshop highlighted a different focus in regards to their thoughts, sufficiency, and prayer, encouraging and uplifting them to feel more valued because of their work with the children of Ingrid.
Purchasing much needed books in English and Swahili for the 2nd grade students of Ingrid Education Centre, Nairobi, Kenya, February 2016.
Having completed my last four year’s work with Ingrid Education Centre, I have been invited by Reverend Sammy Ongondo to return to Kenya in November/December 2016 and speak in five regions of the country on leadership, integrity, and prayer. What I desire to do is the following:
