Traveling began in our family because of an incident my mother experienced when she was working as a registered nurse at Corvallis Manor Nursing Home in Corvallis, Oregon. A professor who taught history at Oregon State University was admitted into a private room across from the main entrance. Being mentally alert, he would start screaming at the top of his lungs because of the pain he was in, and perhaps because of the confinement at having to remain bed fast the rest of his life. Finding his wife crying in the facility’s bathroom one evening, the head nurse inquired why she was upset. If you were able to accomplish all that you did while struggling with the mountain, what can you do now that it is cast into the sea? Yeshua (Jesus) said, “If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will and it shall be done unto you.” –John 15:7 Repeating these words over and over to myself at night as I fell asleep, I would ask God, “How is this possible?” Understanding the verse to mean I could have whatever I wanted, I sought to grasp the “if” clause that empowered its truth.
