Mastering Life with the Sabbath

Sabbath: The day God wants to dance with us. He stops what He is doing, puts down His pen, and looks to see who is looking back at Him. Then He dances. We are so busy during the week. I know for myself, I spend a lot of time talking to Him and asking Him for help and advice, expecting Him to respond in His usual fashion, which is that He will give me the answer as I go along. I listen, but I am also intent on what I am doing. Dancing is a different type of listening: being in tune with the nuances of your partner and paying attention to the other person’s movements while attempting to be in unity with that individual as you go across the floor. Friendship: Understanding the Experiences of Life

In understanding the experiences of life, I have wanted to have a true friendship; now I have it. My friendship feels at once as solid or more solid than any relationship I have had and simultaneously as light as a feather, like it would blow away with the slightest effort, but in its blowing away I would not be sad. It feels like I could always come back to it. What magnificent grace and mercy I have received from the Lord for Him to provide me with such a friendship as this. I turn it over and over in my mind and marvel at its beauty. My friend takes it all in like it is what it should be. I have to consciously breathe when we are together.
