Reflecting on Scripture: Challah

Challah is a sweet bread made with honey, braided, and baked prior to sundown on Friday evening before the Sabbath begins. Challah became part of my family’s tradition several years ago when we adopted the service performed in the home on Friday evenings typically found in traditional Judaism. I like perfecting the art of things that I create and enjoy it most when I can share it with others. There is something wonderful about the smell of freshly baked challah on a Friday afternoon that brings with it the anticipation of the meal that welcomes the Sabbath and the accompanying laughter and social interaction.
