Joseph’s Parenting Style: Encouraging Growth

How can parenting continue while facing issues in your life that seem like giants? Does it seem as if you will be ineffective at parenting because of raging personal battles? Fighting giants while parenting requires concentration. Remember, you are encouraging growth in your child. I think what happens to us is that we are so discouraged with the giants we are trying to slay that we do not think we are doing very well in our parenting, either. Most of all, while fighting giants: stay true to you determine what is most important stick to your core beliefs Consider that while Joseph was going through all those circumstances in his life, he stayed true to himself, and stuck to his core beliefs. He did fairly well with medication until junior high with multiple teachers, multiple classrooms, and multiple sets of students. Additionally, there were some factors in our home environment that exacerbated the situation. With the assistance of his father, I voluntarily committed him to a...

Parenting with Joseph: Encouraging Growth

From all appearances, Joseph was a slave accused of adultery thrown into prison. It really looked like he was an adulterer. It really looked like he was in a terrible situation. It really appeared as if God had forgotten him. What was really happening? Joseph was learning by experience, which is the best teacher. What experience did Joseph have while he was in those situations that he could reflect upon and avail himself of in being a parent? What experiences have you had that you can reflect on and/or share? Use these stories; be transparent with your children. They will always copy your integrity (what you do and not...
