Desire vs. Want with the Teachable Spirit

What is the difference between desire and want? What word bridges the gap between desire and want? How can the definition help the teachable spirit? Recently, I have been reading a marvelous book entitled A Happy Pocket Full of Money written by David Cameron Gikandi, who happens to be from Kenya. Among other things, David Cameron Gikandi was a creative consultant on “The Secret,” a 2006 bestselling film documentary based on Rhonda Byrne’s book of the same title. He defines “want” as: to be without; lack to be destitute or needy a defect of character; a fault to be absent to be deficient or lacking to fail; not to be sufficient to fall or come short; to lack When you want something, he states, this is what the universe gives you–absence...

Days for Girls and the Teachable Spirit

What is the single greatest resistance against poverty? What simple tool is employed to leverage this resistance? How did the teachable spirit find out about it? Fleshing out my vision with the inception of my website in 2013, I had originally included prepubescent training and feminine care products as part of the program I desired to implement for the girls of Ingrid Education Centre. As has been the case with much of my work, I had not the slightest idea how I was going to do it, nor a time frame when it would transpire. The teachable spirit knows that God’s timing is best, allowing all things to come to fruition in His time, as the scripture says: He hath made everything beautiful in its time… Ecc. 3:11 One of the values of the teachable spirit...

The Mind of Messiah with the Teachable Spirit

What is the mind of Messiah? How is it acquired? How will the mind of Messiah benefit the teachable spirit? Let this mind be in you , which was also in Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus): who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. Philippians 2:5-7 Many people say that Yeshua (Jesus) was poor when He walked on this earth. Appearances can be deceiving. While I believe He stripped Himself of His godly form, I think that He came to show us how to live in this realm. If we take nothing with us, then we only need what we have in this very moment, nothing more, nothing less. Yeshua (Jesus) had exactly what He needed when He needed...

What is Fundraising? with the Teachable Spirit

Recently, the teachable spirit had the distinct pleasure of attending a Fundraising from the Heart workshop featuring Lynne Twist, author of the book, Soul of Money. I felt that Lynne’s philosophy resonated with me more than any other approach to money I had encountered. I believed it was worth the trip to the Upaya Center in Santa Fe via Albuquerque, New Mexico, to find some clarity on the subject. What is fundraising? Who is a fundraiser? What is the purpose of fundraising? Working around the world, Lynne has traveled to a variety of countries raising money for organizations such as The Hunger Project, and then creating her own philanthropic institution in 1996, The Pachamama Alliance — a social profit (nonprofit) organization, co-founded with...
