The Mind of Messiah with the Teachable Spirit

What is the mind of Messiah? How is it acquired? How will the mind of Messiah benefit the teachable spirit?

Let this mind be in you , which was also in Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus): who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. Philippians 2:5-7

Many people say that Yeshua (Jesus) was poor when He walked on this earth. Appearances can be deceiving. While I believe He stripped Himself of His godly form, I think that He came to show us how to live in this realm. If we take nothing with us, then we only need what we have in this very moment, nothing more, nothing less. Yeshua (Jesus) had exactly what He needed when He needed it. He lived in a state of what Lynne Twist, author of the Soul of Money, refers to as a state of sufficiency.

Yeshua (Jesus) Himself said,

“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

Matthew 6:34

What does the mind of Messiah look like?

  • He had a definite purpose
  • He submitted to authority
  • He knew what He came to do
  • He submitted to the timing of it
  • He knew everything would be provided for Him to complete His mission

We tend to put Yeshua (Jesus) in His own category, as if we could never do what He did. Yet, the teachable spirit knows that He was the first fruits among many brethren, as He said Himself,

I assure you: The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. John 14:12

When we believe in Him, have a definite purpose in mind, submit to authority, know what we are about, and believe that all things will be provided for us to complete the

mission He has given us to do, then we have the mind of Messiah. Indeed, we can do greater things because He has already preceded us to the Father.

How will this benefit the teachable spirit?

If you know with certainty that you will complete the purpose you came to this earth to fulfill, then you can rest in perfect peace that all will be accomplished. I think the issue that happens to us is that we get attached to how it will be accomplished. Even Yeshua (Jesus) used humble equipment, such as a donkey, to fulfill his mission.

“Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to Me. “If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”

Matthew 21:2-3

The teachable spirit understands that the mind of Messiah can be obtained by knowing their purpose with certainty, believing it will be

fulfilled in the proper time, and remaining unattached as to how it will be accomplished. After all, as Yeshua (Jesus) did, we act under the authority of the Father, submitting to His timing and methods. Keeping our mind focused on our purpose, having steadfast faith that He will bring it to pass, and trusting in Him during the process allows us to resonate with the words of Isaiah:

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3

The teachable spirit is returning to Kenya in January 2016. Please feel free to support my mission trip by sharing this blog, taking on the challenge of raising money for the campaign, or donating money yourself, as you see fit.
